I have been searching for a program that can breakdown a web design (from a jpg, psd, or png) and provide me with information about the different type used, colors used, and maybe even the spacing between visual elements..

do you kno of any program that does something close to this?

    Thanks

The answer to your question is to examine the HTML source of the web page that interests you. AFAIK, there is no other way to acquire the information that you are asking for. Every web browser has a View Source menu selection. It allows you to view the HTML code of your current web page.

Or, write one and sell it! ;)

I've not heard of a program that does it. Would be cool though.

I use CSSEdit, which allows you to extract a site's css and view/edit it. You can click on individual elements of the site to see its css properties (colour, margins, padding etc.).

Not sure if this is what you were looking for.

EDIT: Oops, just re-read that you wanted to pull these from image files. Good luck with that one.

The OP doesn't need the image files. He just needs the names of the image files. Everything that he asked for is provided by View Source.

It sounds to me like he wants to pull this information from a flat image file. So there is no source to view. He wants to be able to get colour, font and spacing information from a PSD or JPEG.
