Does Mac OS X (Tiger) have a built in program for viewing the memory usage of different applications that would be running at that time? If not could someone recommend a good 3rd party freeware that shows me memory usage (or a widget or something) ?

Thanks 🙂

...or use the top command in Terminal.app?

But if you want a broader system monitor, available all the time, which doesn't take too much resources, I recommend XRG. Enables you to monitor all kinds of info right off your Desktop (color scheme is customizable 😉):

Thanks everyone for the replies. I am using Activity Monitor which seems good enough. I can't believe I hadn't seen it. Silly me!
