What kind of schools? There's iTunes U where numerous university lectures on iPhone development are available free of charge - is that what you're thinking of? You can download those through iTunes.

Also, check out the stickies at the top of this forum - you should find some good info up there.

    Good luck!

Most guys I know that work on that have electrical engineering backgrounds.

There are also some specialized MSc programs from telecommunications and networking but they are generally light on coding.

The strongest low lat coding guys come from generic CS backgrounds and have a passion for C++.

Define "work"? Software on the application layer? Firmware? Hardware? Industrial Design? ....

A typical cell phone-like device is implemented by large multi-disciplinary teams over a period of years. There is no single school/course for that.

Fixing smashed screens and broken electronics is what an electronics technician does. An IT course provides no relevant training for that.

An electronics tech may be capable of performing some IT tasks, but the training for that would largely be separate from the electronics side. The overlap between the skill sets is probably not much larger than the ability to make Ethernet cables using an RJ-45 crimping tool and a wiring diagram.

    Example skills description:

    Search terms:
    electronics technician
    electronics technician training
