i had to talk to apple tech support to figure out why my laptop was freezing up when i woke it up from sleep they concluded it was sidetrack and suggested immediate removal

Of course they blamed sidetrack. Any company would put the blame on a third party app, unauthorized by Apple that runs all the time. Just like how my ISP always concluded that my Airport was to blame with whatever was going wrong with my connection back home. Unless you are running some crazy unique version of OSX on some crazy unique hardware, whatever was happening was not sidetracks fault. Give it another go sometime, it beats the hell out of using arrow keys.

Would SideTrack fix my problem that I have now? With my PowerBook Wallstreet, I can't tab on the trackpad and make the mouse click by doing so. I don't think I want sidetrack through, cause of where things are located with it. At the corners it has symbol keys? I just don't like that.

anyway i couldn't figure out why my machine was freezing on me and i even concluded it was sidetrack with my own tests with a clean install of OS X with no updates and only one additional program installed sidetrack

While I appreciate the spirited defense of SideTrack, it is possible that SideTrack was the cause of the wake from sleep from freezes that mikeyredk experienced. There are a small number of applications that appear to conflict with ST 0.9 (notably ThermographX and Ulysses). Because of their usage of IOKit the conflict can appear even after these applications have quit (i.e. run once and the next sleep will freeze even if the app is no longer open).

Thankfully these issues effect a tiny number of users and someone made the effort to bring them to my attention. Working with the respective authors both bugs have been fixed in SideTrack 1.0 (available soon). As of 1.0 all known/reported wake from sleep issues are fixed and the changes probably clear up many other (unreported) conflicts as well.

Which brings me to the point of my post... Folks if you detect a problem of this severity with a program do everyone a favor and drop the author a note. Both these bugs were incredibly obscure interplays of kernel/IOKit internals. Without the tip from users they would likely have never been found and fixed.

So, in summary, sorry I crashed your machine mikeyredk. I can't promise perfection, but I think its likely your issue is fixed in 1.0.

Its not a problem i just don't use it. I like the idea but i got used to using the mouse as is the trackpad is small as is i don't want it to get any smaller ;)

I will try the 1.0 version when it comes out and send you a report if it happens again
