Programs open at start up

How do I make a program open at start up? I have one that opens and I don't want it to and I can't figure out how to make it stop!

Right click on the icon in the dock and untick "Open at Login".

Right click on it in the dock and click "open at log in"

To stop them opening > System Preferences > Accounts > Login Items > Click the application in the items list then click the "-" symbol.
