I recently bought a second hand iMac iSight A1145 with a Radeon X600 XT video card in it. I am unhappy with the nvidia based iMac G5 I have under Linux. So after I moved it into my new place I discovered that the optical drive was pretty broken. So I opted for another drive, found one online here in The Netherlands. As I had to open the iMac anyway, I also decided to put a SSD drive in it together with a NewerTech adaptadrive. I also found a 2Gb RAM to put into the empty slot. I got everything installed today. I tested the thing and it works. Now I am going to see whether I can install Leopard on this beast. After that, I will put MintPPC on it.

I flashed a USB 2.0 stick with Leopard but I can't get the machine to boot. I am probably doing something wrong in OF. I will order a Leopard installation DVD now, bit sick of fiddling around in open firmware. I want this machine working...

I can't seem to boot from the USB stick. I today tried to install from DVD...aargh. The second superdrive is also not good, can't boot from the DVD (DVD is ok, checked it on my other iMac G5). So my question is: is it possible to copy the contents of the Leopard DVD onto an external firewire drive and then boot the difficult iMac from that firewire drive?

At least MintPPC is running on the machine now finally. @MoerBoer I will change the installer for 64-bits in the near future so we won't have to go through this annoying step of removing xserver-xorg-video-nouveau in a tty....
