Sorry to dig up this old thread, but I have to say this sounds amazing. I can't wait for it to come out! It's always pretty annoying to have to install the updates, and then TFF and other essentials. Continue with your great work!

I haven't been able to work on it because I got some other things that take higher priority, but I promise Ill get back to it as soon as I can! :) Actually I figured some other stuff out about integrating packages so yeah :)

OK, I was just thinking about this and it's actually not that hard. You don't need to modify the installer to take additional packages, it should be much easier. Why not just modify the package itself? For example, the packages that install the OS could include the Sierra theme additions, and maybe the 10.5.8 update as well. Or perhaps make a whole new package with Apple's developer tools, and then rename it and replace a package in the DVD (for example, make a package that installs Leopard-WebKit and then replace the "Safari" package with it). I haven't tested this yet, so I'm not sure if it will work. However, I will be testing it soon! If I can pull this off, I'll be making a DVD for myself, however I won't release it (without the permission of @Orizence, that is).

It doesn't make much of a difference. All you do is add a package to the list, put it in the packages folder, et voila, it will work just fine. For me, it kept stuff much more neater. And the new package will override base system files if there are such files in it. For example, if you put system .app files with just an icon inside, it will only override that. No need to mess with Apple packages.

OK, so it seems to be much more simple than I thought. What "list" are you talking about, exactly? And after you add it, you simply put the package you listed in the packages folder? This post confuses me a bit, please clarify.

Theres a plist located inside one of the installer packages that allow you to tell it what packages are to be installed and which ones are available to the user to select

dont get the point of having an enforced CPU speed requirement? id let the end user decide what they deem fast enough to run leo on in this case...

Oh, and just out or curiosity, where is this .plist file located? I was looking around and I couldn't seem to find it. Thanks.
Never mind, I found it.

If I can be of any help to this project, let me know! It's going to make life soooooo much easier for all of us and I can't wait for the release!

With the recent, and rather shocking (in the negative sense of the word) developments on the project, I have decided I'm quitting all my development on this project. I recently wanted to bring this back when the PPCArchive team would release their theme, but after having seen that their ideas were copied by someone who had promised to work with them... I'm left rather disappointed, and have absolutely zero interest in doing such a release anymore. @Orizence, and Henry (who sadly cannot respond) of course can still do it if they wish, and I hold no reservations against that, but my involvement is truly done. Or this idea might simply get copied too, I don't really care at this point anyway, it's all wasted effort anyway.

I think having an install disc for Tiger and Leopard with all the essential software that everyone uses already installed (unless the software is still getting updates) would be awesome! I prefer Transmission due to it being lighter, any way to include that as well/instead?

Daniel, please don't let one person stop you from helping out the rest of the community. While there are probably thousands of us that love tinkering with PPC, there are only a few like you, in comparison, with the knowledge to put together a project like this.

Until this is complete, I will continue to keep my "PowerPC Flash Drive" loaded with all the PPC Software and OS X Updates so I at least don't have to hunt and download them every time.

To be honest, my help isn't even needed anymore on this project. It was mostly Orizence's idea, and I helped him figure out how to get the installer to recognise and install the custom packages. I explained this in detail to him, so he can continue the project if he wants to. And if not, Henry could still do it if @Orizence allows it.

Or who knows, maybe eventually @SourceSunTom will just copy this entire idea and just release a Leopard installer DVD that installs his theme and rip-off PPCStore with it.

Again, I have heavy moral obligations against continuing this pack myself, but there are other, capable people that can do it, probably better than me too, or it just could get copied for all I care at this point.

Don't worry, I won't quit PPC over this, or never do any more projects, but I definitely will never, ever again collaborate with Tom.

I hear you. I am new around here so I don't know everyone yet, or know who's project is who's, but I must say, I do like the PPC Store. I know you think it is a ripoff of another user's website: http://ppcarchive.dyniform.net/software.html however, I do like that it loads instantly, and I don't have to fire up my browser to get to it and it doesn't take 90-100% of my CPU power to browse. This is nothing against the website obviously, the site is a god send to use PPC users, but it is nice to have a "native" app that allows us to do the same thing.

I do see how you would be upset about someone copying a lot of the work, especially when they go around to all the other theme pack threads they took ideas from and plug their own theme pack... That is rather low.

Actually, there was going to be a "Leopard Market", which would have been a native app to get downloads from the PPC Archive without a browser. The guy that was given that task, Henry, was sadly banned, and after that the PPCStore suddenly appeared, which is fishy.

In no way i will do that :), The PPCStore was planed before i even knew a "Leopard Market" was being done :), The theme pack itself was done because i wasn't going to give out all of my resources and finally having my theme rebranded.
(Without being rude, You would still probably have a theme that uses candy bar to change icons :/)
In no way i will do one, and i'm not going to start working on this because i have no experience on that.
Why do you worry so much about that ?

Henry showed me how the store was going to work after he explained to me he was doing one too (I didn't know he was doing one), i have his email and still have his PMs, The market would have been a web view too i :/
Henry was also trying to help me with the PPCStore btw.

He sent this when i got banned:
"Hi SourceSunTom,
This is HFTaylor12 from the MR forums. I got banned, as you probably
know. Well, it was some sort of moderation mistake, 'cause I didn't do
anything. I should be back on in a few days. Sorry. BTW, I'm
experimenting with the dock now. Might be getting somewhere with that
hitbox! No notable things to say about it yet, though. I'll try to get
this done before December 15, so we can do testing and stuff.
-Henry Taylor (HFTaylor12)"
That was 4weeks ago :(, Seems like he is still not unbanned :/

I have made a breakthrough discovery on how to make the image and have been working on it over the past day or two. I should be able to have a early version available by tomorrow. It'll be exclusive to The PowerPC Archive. Any alternative sources using it without permission is strictly prohibited and will republishers will be prosecuted...

Also, ive gotten permission from Daniel and Henry to do this, and I'd like to take the time to ask the original creator of this idea, Orizence if I can go ahead and release this early version. I still need to work on making packages for apps that don't have installers, and if anyone knows how to do that, please let me know! This release has iLife and iWork 09 included, as well as the 10.5.8 combo update. I'd like to be able to include TFF, Leopard WebKit, and VLC, as well as other requested apps that don't require licensing

And it will be burnable to a dual layer DVD? Not like it matters right now. I'm currently installing leopard to a flash drive using my MacBook and restoring it to my PB using CCC on my Tiger partition. All because I'm out of dual layer DVD's.
