As I have an nMP on order, I was thinking about changing from my Netgear ReadyNAS PRO (on GIG LAN) to a Promise Pegasus2 box.

A couple of questions:

I read that Pegasus disconnects when used with a MBP that goes to Sleep, and does NOT reconnect on waking the MBP. It is necessary to unplug/replug the Pegasus2. This is a show stopper for me as I also want to be able to use it with my MBP. Has this been fixed by a firmware upgrade, or is it still the case?

How can you upgrade the drives in a Pegasus2 without loosing data? In my ReadyNAS, I was able to migrate from 2TB drives to 3TB drives, just by changing the drives, one at a time and waiting for it to resync, without downtime. As more larger drives were added, the ReadyNAS increased its overall capacity, and I didn't need to copy everything to another storage, just to upgrade. Can the Promise2 do this? I think it is called "expandable" RAID, or X-RAID.

I've never had the Pegasus disconnect on my iMac in one year. Except one time: I have a projector daisychained via thunderbolt.
Projector didn't have power and when I turned on it's power supply, it disconnected the Pegasus.

My iMac/Pegasus R4 never had a problem either. I am pretty sure that I have my iMac to never go to sleep. I do have it set to require a password after screen saver kicks in. (I think 30 mins)... and when I leave the machine, I generally use the quick user switching controls to go back to the login screen.
