I have an old G4 tower that I use as a home server. I also now have a $1 Promise Ultra133 TX2 ATA card from the junk store. Since the G4 doesn't support >128GB drives and the card does, it'd be nice if they would play friendly.

Some Google poking indicated that the hardware, or at least the actual controller chip, on the Promise card is exactly the same as the old ATA cards Sonnet used to make. Since the card's BIOS is flashable, and there is a download on Sonnet's site for the old cards, I'm of course wondering if it can be done, as much for the heck of it as anything. And if I fry the card, no biggie, given that it only cost me a buck.

    Anybody tried this? Suggestions?
