Depends on how much drop protection you want. The Commuter will handle drops much better..

I think I'll stick with my commuter. for such a protective case it doesn't add much bulk at all! I like the gimmick of this case of it not actually touching the back when slid in lol.

Yeah there are these guardrails inside. I'm liking this case except that you can't use the LED flash..

Nice Case But Flash Issues!

I just received my case yesterday.

I've always preferred the slider type cases but I hated how most had a line going across the back where the top and bottom pieces came together. With the Proof Cliq case, the iPhone slides in through the bottom leaving no lines or seams on the backside. This makes the case design much cleaner.

I'm pretty happy with the cases' design, build, and quality but there is one major issue regarding the camera cutout and flash. The camera and flash cutout seems to be too small. Pictures taken with the flash result in washed out images. Pictures taken without flash come out fine though. I'm pretty disappointed in this design flaw and I hope Proof come's out with a fix for it.

Here's a comparison image taken with flash on:

I got mine in white...horrible flash wash. Hopefully they come out with a revised version

Larry, would you have time to check if all colors produce washout with flash ? Or is the black one immune to this phenomenon:confused:, thanks.

I tried it with the black and it has a slight effect on the image. For some reason the black color feels not as soft as the other colors.

We are always glad to help and willing to work with our customers for a great customer experience.
Under our own field testing we did our best to make sure the camera cutout did not interfere in the quality of pictures. Please note that other customers that have been using our cases for quite some time have not had this experience. But it seems that some people are experiencing a similar problem with undesired effects of taking flash photos. We pride ourselves in having a supreme product and want to reassure our customers that we will resolve these issues.
We have decided to go ahead and make some design changes to our Cliq case based on our recent customer feedback. Please be assured that this will be taken into consideration in our newest update, which will also be a design to fit both AT&T and Verizon versions of the iPhone 4. We are now focusing on 2 changes, the lower button and slider changes and making the the cutout for our Cliq case larger.
Also, we did not test our products with a screen protector on the back of the iPhone because we feel there is no need for it with our case design.
If you feel you would like to return the case, we would gladly refund you. Or we would also be glad to replace your case once we have our new update ready. We will be setting up a replacement program once our new design is ready for retail production. As you can imagine many iPhone 4 case manufacturers are scrambling to update their cases for the new Verizon changes. We estimate our new design to be ready in about 4-6 weeks. Once again, we apologize for any inconvenience or disappointment we may have caused our customers with this issue. Please be assured that we are working on this problem and will remedy it as soon as possible. If you have any suggestions for us and our new design changes we are always willing to listen to our customers' feedback. Thank you for your support.

I'm very happy to hear that you guys are taking steps to remedy the flash issue.

As I had stated in my previous post, the design, build, and quality of the case are almost perfect with the only issue being the cutout for the camera and flash. I think the case will be perfect with a slightly larger cutout.

Also can you share some more details on what we will need to do if we want to exchange our case for the newer design. Do we have to return our cases now and wait to order the new one or can we just wait to exchange when the new one is released.

A larger cutout for the camera - flash won't solve the issue, you will need to color the inline of the cutout in black at least.
Other than that I like the Cliq case a lot.

The exchange program will be available once our new shipment arrives. Anyone who wants to exchange their old Proof Cliq case for the new one will be allowed to do so. All you have to do is send the old case and we will resend you the new model. You do not have to send back the screen protector as we will only be replacing the case itself. We will have our site updated with instructions on how to participate once the program is made available.

i know about the flash issues, but this is a very nice case, i dont use the flash hardly every so it doesnt bother me but a case design should work all the way through, i wont be reviewing the model i got from proof i will be waiting to review the improved model. very nice design though.

I just got this Email From them

"Hello. This is Proof Cases. We are letting all our reviewers know that we are currently underway in updating our product model.
As you can imagine many iPhone 4 case manufacturers are working hard to accommodate the new Verizon iPhone 4's vibrate slider and button changes. We are updating our design to be universal for all iPhone 4 models. Whether a customer is using AT&T, Verizon or just switching services, we will have one single design for all customers.
There have been some recent customer issues regarding our case and the LED flash of the iPhone 4. Some users are experiencing washout effects in certain lighting conditions and we are currently updating our current design to remedy this issue.
We expect our new design to be ready for retail market in about 4 weeks. At that time we would like to send you an updated sample. If you plan on reviewing our product before then we would appreciate it if you would include these details in your review. If you would like to wait for the updated version we would be glad to accommodate you as soon as possible. Thank you for your support.

i messaged proof cases today as i was unsure what to do with the black proof case they are sending me, i mentioned about these boards and that people are having problems with the camera cutout and having that wash out effect, i wanted to know if they would replace the product and rectify the problem you know ( customer service )... so i got an email back saying that the problem is only with the colored cases and doesn't effect the black case...

doesn't really solve my problem if the black case still has issues with the flash... i guess ill wait till i get it.. end rant

why didnt you read the post from proof cases on this thread, it clearly says that they are doing a exchange program when they come out with the new case. if you have problems with it then return it or wait for new version, end rant

i did some testing on the black and white models and it seems that the black model takes pictures fine with the camera flash on, and the white model makes the flash washout. the black model does not effect the flash as far as i can tell.
