I know this is an old thread but I just took my candy shell case off my iphone 7 and it bent from the standby button up to the camera on only half the phone.. Before this case it's been in an otter box since brand new. I always took it off the same way and never had a problem. unless this was bent since new and I never noticed??

I've owned several Speck candyshell cases and they weren't so bad to take off, but then I bought a clear Speck case and that thing was a nightmare to get back off my 5s. Once I got it off, I never put it back on. I do like a secure case, but not so tight that you have to fret about breaking the phone to remove it.

I forget what brand, but back when I was obsessed with super thin cases - I had one that I couldn't take off no matter what and I thought I was going to break the phone. Yep, had to take a pair of heavy duty scissors to start a tear so I could loosen the case to take it off.

Now I use a massive Sena wallet case that is heavy duty enough that I can take it on/off without damaging the phone or the case (but I rarely take it off). Stuck with it for over 2.8 years now (it was my case for my 6+ and now my 6s+). I've got an identical replacement case that was gifted to me when this one goes south.

http://www.senacases.com/snap-on-wallet-iphone-6-plus - Wow they're $20 now. I paid $70 for mine. But it has lasted. Wasted way more than that on cases I didn't like or ended up not using.

Here's what worked for my 2-piece hard case. That sucker was really on there--I thought I was going to need the jaws of life to get my phone out!

I don't have the small plastic spatula-like tool that some sites recommend, so I used a little plastic square (not the twist tie) that comes on bread, apples, etc. --you find them on any produce or bread that comes in a plastic bag.
Anyway, if you can create a little gap between the case and the rubber bumper, squeeze the edge of the little plastic square in there, wiggle it around and run it around the whole phone until it's loose enough to come out.

**Crisis averted!** Good luck all.
