Hi there!
First time poster long time lurker.

So If you want to plug your headphones directly into your new iphone 7, without having to use a dongle, you need to buy some compatible headphone. What other devices use this type of connector? None right?

Would it not be more "courageous" of apple to actually collaborate across the industry in order to come up with a universal standard? Or is it all about locking customers into the ecosystem? something which jobs seems to be keen on.

First to answer your question, there is NO connector now... Wire LESS... And I dont foresee a head phone company making head sets with Lightning connectors... The age of hard wired headsets is OVER...

Rubbish. There is the Lightning connector, which Apple is using for their headphones. Other manufacturers also already have lightning headphones released, and more will follow. Wireless was an option before too, and it still is. The difference is the 3.5mm jack is gone (lightning to 3.5mm adapter included with 7 and 7+).

The age of hard wired headsets is FAR from over. This comment neglects all wired headphones, which some of them are in pretty superior quality.

So if I was to buy a pair of wired headphones with lightening connector, what other devices apart from Apple will they be compatible with?
