I really want to get the new macbook pro but I read that usb 3.0 will be coming out soon and blue-ray will become standard in all computers, and i was wondering if I should wait for these to be released? When do you think they will be released?

    -Thank you

USB will probably be at least mid 2010, if not late 2010. Apple are sitting on the fence over blu ray, they might be waiting for slim line slot loading drives to be viable (price wise).

There's not going to be a better time to buy a new MBP until the day after the next update. If you hold out for BluRay you could be disappointed for a very long time.

Even if USB 3.0 is released in 2010, I don't see market saturation for at least another year.

You'll be fine. Firewire 800 is plenty fast for the time being if you need a solid connection, though eSata is even better.
