wait for the ti book!

I have been wanting to buy a ti book for some time. I just sold my g4 450 this week. So I am typing this on my dad's crappy pc.

I tested the ti book 667 at compusa the other day. OS X ran great. It kicked my 450's butt. I had 704 mb of ram in the 450 but it only had a 8 mb graphics card. The ti book only has 16 but it is ddrram. window resizing didn't even glitch.

I say wait though. I am computer less until my 2 superdrive imacs get here and they are telling me it will probably be 2-4 more weeks and I ordered it January 30th.

I just can't justify spending 3000 right now on a computer I think will be updated at the end of the month.

Also, look at the apple store. besides the old imac the ti book is the only computer that doesn't have the new button on it. I think we will new ti books by tokyo.

apollo

The new powermacs have the Apollo 7445 SOI.
Cant remember what the SOI stands for, but its type of fabrication
method that allows lower heat levels. Thats what is being used for the new Dual Gigs Powermacs!

So if there is a warehouse of these waiting in the wings.
Then they are waiting for the New PowerBooks to go into!

Its my interpretation that hopefully there will be aspeed bump with these babies into the new Powerbooks, end of March.

Logic dictates it will be a 800 chip, but I am hoping for a high end
1-Ghz, because I dont think that I can buy anything lower than that speed.

I am an optimistic person so I say- 1-ghz - 32 mgs Gf2go card
And some new styling to create some thirst for new style/;}

SOI silicon on insulator.

Thanks Grok. I thought the new 933 and 1ghz chips were apollos. but krossfyter had me doubting myself.

I woudl love to see a new graphics card in these machines. maybe with a new card in the Pbooks we could get a nice card in the ibooks as well.

how long did those rage 128 chips stick around? ugh.

there is another thread here talking about new features in the next powerbooks including a lengthy discussion on the case.

oh so they are in the dual 1ghz???!!! wow! i was not aware of that. whats the proof for this? wheres the indicator? any link i can go to to read for myself because I want to make sure. I thought these new apollos were being tested...what makes them apollos by the way?

sorry i had you doubting there ambitious.
