I purchased a backpack-style camcorder bag for my XH-A1. 90% of the time, the backpack will be laying so that the camera lays horizontally (normally) in the bag. However, when the backpack is being carried, the camera will be vertical within the padded interior.

Do you think it matters (for the safety of the camera) whether it is in the bag lens down or lens up?

It probably won't matter while you carry it, but I'd go lens up so that when you do set it down, the lens will not be the first thing that hits the ground.

alright, sounds good.

the only reason i was debating putting it in lens down was because the bag starts to contour towards the top... making it easier to fit the square-shaped lens hood on the bottom.

but i rather edge towards caution.
