Just ordered an M1 MBP, have seen posts online that the keyboard can scratch the screen when it’s closed?

Is this a thing, if so, what’s the best way to stop that happening… have read that it’s not a good idea to put a micro fibre cloth on the keys before closing or using screen protector as both can potentially cause lack of airflow or cause issues with the display because of the lack of clearance between the keys and screen.

Any advice would be appreciated 👍

Well I have used a Radtech ScreenSavrz micro-fibre cloth on my MacBook Pros for at least 8 years, without any problems and no screen scratches!

I have seen them unfortunately not available here in the UK but I have found something similar on Amazon https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B08FK9ZL27/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_glt_fabc_CFR0M52J7B8PHMGHYK5Z

Does your use case include the latest design of the MBP? Thanks

My current MBP is a 2020 i7 so not the M1 version - whilst I normally use a 13" MBP I also used the cloths with a 16" MBP with no problems.

Awesome thanks for the info, I am pretty sure there was no design changes between the 2020 models and the M1 late 2020 models 👍

I've had my M1 MBP for six months now. It goes into my book bag a couple times a week, inside an Incase ICON sleeve. No apparent issues with the screen. I also don't overload my bag with a bunch of stuff, nor do I allow smaller/hard objects to press into the MBP.

Just remember this is one, persons experience, who tends to be cautious with my stuff. YMMV. I don’t doubt some folks have had an issue, but I’m inclined (with nothing but supposition) to think that the environment and owner are factors in this.

As mentioned above, I have used the same size Screensavrz with a 13" and 16" Intel MBP - I imagine that they will also fit my new 14" when I get it at the end of the week.

I'm assuming you're using the (keyboard only) cover? I compared measurements. The 2021 keyboard is about 10.625" wide, but the previous models such as a 2007 MBP has a keyboard that's about 10.125" wide. The depth is about 0.50" deeper too at 4.50 inches. The current offerings might cover the width, but they're not going to cover the depth.
