So I came across this and know almost nothing about it. I purchased this at a savers (local goodwill type store) and the people on apples phone line didn't eally have any information beside "if its real it belong in a museum. Can anyone give me more information?

Why do you need information on this computer? It's old and antiquated. It's scrap metal. Melt it down and make it into beer cans.

The following article might be of interest to you -

And this video -

You can try contacting him through his website although it doesn't look as if it's been updated in a few years -

Have you tried taking the bottom of the case off to see what the inside looks like? It would be interesting to compare it with production models.

Let us know what you find out?

Edit - Also, you might want to have a look at this thread -

Have not taken the back plate off. Don't know if it'll have anything I could damage so I'm taking it to a shop today. I'll keep you posted

I saw that article, but I figured nobody would engrave the Apple intellectual property thing on for a laugh. I just got out the PC shop who was nice enough to give it a charge and open the back.

The fan shroud is different on yours, it looks primitive compared to the final one, as do other parts of it. There's also the addition of a V-shaped bracket on the heat sink and the wi-fi module has a cover over it on your version.

Also, the label with M82 Rev:18 and the date of the 25th September 2007. The Air wasn't announced until the 15th of January 2008 so it's well before that.

I've only glanced through the other thread and I'm not sure what you mean, but the bottom of the case has a similar finish and that was a prototype, albeit an earlier version.

It's noticeable that it only says MacBook below the display and not MacBook Air like it did on the production versions.

The link with the other MacBook didn't have the same line about apple property from what I could tell in the pictures.

I know it's an old thread, but that is fascinating. I would definitely keep it if I were you.
Honestly it's not my intention to keep it. I can appreciate what it is and the history behind it. With that being said I am in no rush to sell the laptop but its not really in my wheelhouse of things I collect. Someone eventually will appreciate this far more than I do. Until then it sadly gathers dust in my safe.

Sorry for bringing up that thread again. What's the machine's Model Identifier as shown in System Profiler, if you don't mind me asking?
