I have iOS 10 and iOS 11 iTunes backup and iOS 11 GM installed on iPhone, Is it possible to extract Protube IPA file from the back-ups or iPhone?

I have the app installed on iPhone, but don't see it on my iPhone purchase history.

I am not sure how to post a screen shot, but I am in Canada. I believe you installed it through a different Apple ID before (maybe using family sharing?).

I am in Canada too, only have 1 Apple ID. You can upload or drag pic to upload.

See attached.
I see you are on iOS 10, I am iOS 11 GM maybe that it why it doesn't show? Are you using Mac or Windows? and does the iTunes on Mac or Windows show the app in purchase history? I will try on my Mac since I don't want to go through hassle of downgrading my iPhone.

I don’t see it, going to try on windows computer because I don’t see it on my Mac.

What is Apple doing, I purchased the app and it’s not showing in my purchased history.

Damnit. Apple has removed the ability to "Transfer Purchases" to copy apps from the device to iTunes on the computer. And Apple has made it impossible to re-download apps from the Purchased tab if they have been removed from all stores worldwide.

I don't see ProTube, which means it has been removed worldwide. And now we can't even get it off the device via Transfer Purchases anymore.

And my computer only has ProTube 2.5.8 backed up (which added iOS 11 support). The final one was 2.5.9 which fixes issues with loading certain channels and videos. So reinstalling iOS would mean losing the final version.

This is a terrible day. ProTube was the best YouTube experience of all and I always recommended it to people... YouTube is trying to force people to pay $10 per month for their own terrible app instead.

Everything is so locked down in Apple-land. I've already decided months ago that my next computer will be a regular Windows PC. Microsoft are innovating constantly (holographics, touchscreens) and they're working on a new GUI design which blows away Apple. And I've recently been thinking that my next tablet and phone may be Android. I'm tired of Apple deciding that I can't have classic console emulators and other fun apps.

It’s good ShermanC still has it, but I am wondering why others that purchased cannot see it?

I am also wondering why ShermanC can see it.

Because Apple's "Purchased" tab only lists apps that are available in at least 1 app store region in the world. It doesn't have to be your own. If it's available in some Island nation in the ocean, you will still be able to download the app via your Purchases tab if you are in America or anywhere else in the world. You don't have to be in the region that still has the app.

But if it's gone from every store worldwide, it'll be gone from the Purchased tab for everyone.

It's gone from my tab, which means that it's gone worldwide.

Have you tried using one of the free VPN apps from App Store? Using vpn app you can switch regions and countries, thus giving you a slim chance of getting the app even if you are in Canada.

I'm still incredibly sad to see ProTube go... And I didn't even back up the final version, so I can't re-install it later. Unfortunately, it's still only a matter of time until ProTube quits working even for people who were lucky enough to purchase it and save the final version before it vanished. Google just needs to update their API (which they've done quite frequently) and the whole app will break forever, just like it's been breaking at various times throughout the years. So it's only a matter of time until it's truly gone...

Therefore, I decided that I needed a reliable replacement that does everything that I've been using the ProTube app for. So I've spent all day experimenting and creating a bunch of brand-new, never-before-seen techniques for the normal iOS Safari and YouTube.com that finally gives us Picture-in-Picture videos, background playback (via either PiP or audio-only), real fullscreen playback, 1080p, AirPlay, sleep timer, and so on! No special apps required!

And I am giving it all away for free (unless you feel like donating, in which case you're totally awesome):

Is it the cornertube app?

Is it the cornertube app?

That screenshot is just some random "PiP" image because I didn't want to screenshot my private iPad.

My code uses regular iOS Safari + YouTube.com with some brand new techniques to get Picture-in-Picture, 1080p, fullscreen, sleep timer, and all the other things I listed. No apps at all. No special websites.

I'm the first person to have added PiP mode and real native fullscreen and background playback to the regular YouTube.com. It's awesome to finally have those features on the official website!

I don't want to rely on any iOS apps anymore, because YouTube will clearly crack down on them all. And besides, using the real YouTube.com website is nicer because you get all of the site's full features.

Just follow the instructions on my website. ;-)

The IPA can only be downloaded if the app is available in the Apple-Store.

I have Protube's last version saved from months ago, in IPA. When I receive a new device I'll use iTunes 12.6.2.20 to upload it there.

If this was not restricted to my Apple-ID I would share here in this thread. I could be wrong, however I believe that uploading the .IPA will not work unless we are logged with the Apple-ID that bought or downloaded the app.

BTW, Protube is still working in iOS last 10.X version, in the iPAD PRO 9.7.
