Just got this (I know this thread is a bit old)

It's great. It's basically the web version of YouTube but allows you to download videos. The web version is hands down more superior than the stock YouTube app. So they put the icing on the cake on this one.

Search for "open in ProTube" in Cydia, download the package, this will redirect all the YouTube urls you open in forums etc to the ProTube app instead of the stock YouTube app :)

Just an fyi about ProTube. After installing it it broken all my Video from Safari, YouTube stock and ProTube. It would not play any video streams at all. I had to restore and rejailbreak to regain video.

It's a shame because it runs quicker than M.Youtube and the download option is nice with the option to save in the Camera roll.

Pretty much yeah. Right after i installed this i encountered problems. I had to restore and rejailbreak which was a pita. I really enjoyed it though, it was super quick and the download times for 1080p videos was good.

What device were you using ProTube on?

very weird not doubting you I just haven't experienced that at all. Did you report the problem to the dev? Also we are talking a paid version of protube?

I'll be honest and tell you I did not pay for it. That will most likely be the cause but what differs from it being from a different repo?

I did it to try it out and will most likely buy it if I know that it will not mess up video again.

Well I can tell you I've had the paid version since early on it has updated several times and I have never had a issue.. honestly one of my favorite apps.. I hate waiting for youtube to load on apples stock app plus the download times.. also sometimes cracked apps are exactly that cracked!

All good over here. I use it almost daily and never once has it crashed on me. I haven't used it to download anything yet since I upgraded to 5.1.1 though. Maybe thats where the big lies...I'll download some stuff tonight. If I run into issues I'll report back. I love protube!

I've downloaded a bunch of mp3's. So far I haven't been able to crash it. Ill use it for a few days and if it crashes and I lose all the files like you did, I'll let you know. But so far I haven't had any problems. What else do you have installed that might interfere? I can see a random crash due to low memory or something, but to crash AND lose all the files, that's weird. Either way, hopefully its not a common bug but rather an isolated incident.

I have activator, adblocker, barrel, infinfolders, springtomize, unfold bitesms, iblacklist and winterboard. My phone and iPad have been restarting to safe mode the past 2 days.

Side note. Is there anyway to get around the 20min mp3 limit? Thanks.

Interesting. Out of your list, the tweaks I don't have installed are infinifolders, unfold, iblacklist, and winterboard. I have several other tweaks installed though. Unfold caused my phone to freeze and when I put my phone to sleep when I woke it up, it immediately showed the springboard not the lockscreen, but it was frozen. That has very well known bugs right now but I can't see that messing with protube. Not sure how iblacklist and winterboard can mess with it either.

But infinifolders...I'm just gonna throw this out there. The other day, idownloadblog had an article stating that some people were having issues streaming embedded videos in websites. Turns out, the problem was with people who installed protube and moved YouTube inside a folder or hidden completely from the SB altogether. I know it's a reach, but maybe there's something there. Do you rely heavily on infinifolders? If you still have problems, if I were you I'd remove that first to see if the problem goes away. It's a reach for sure. But sounds like there's something going on between protube, YouTube, and folders/hiding the icon.

Let us know if you figure out what's causing the protube problems. I'll let you know if I run into it too.

Thanks for the detailed response. I will try tweaking this and let you guys know what I find.

Dam. Sorry to hear that. I have accumulated a bunch of downloads now and I still haven't had a crash yet. Let us know if the folder tweak is causing the problems. (although I can't understand how it would but crazier things have happened with jailbroken iPhones lol)

I figured out what causes my protube to crash and erase all my downloaded content. If I am downloading an mp3 and it gets stuck on file is converting this may take a while and i try to cancel the download it crashes and erases all my saved mp3's.
