I've been working on this app with a friend. He has sent me the source code (which is currently provisioned to his device)

When I try to put the app on my phone, I get the error "code sign error: the identity 'iPhone distribution:...' doesn't match any valid certificate/private key chain pair in the default keychain" although I have changed the provisioning in the info section of Xcode.

Any thoughts as to how to fix this?

You're not authorized to use the provisioning profile that he created because the certificate for it is in his name.

Basically there's two things you can do. If he created a team account for his iOS developer program then he can add you as a team member and modify the profile so that you have permission to use it.

Or, you can just create your own provisioning profile with your own iOS developer account, and just use that.
