I have a legit developer account and loaded 4.1GM on my iPhone 4 the other day in hopes it would fix the proximity sensor issues I have been having. No dice, put one call on speaker, dialed during another and muted a third in one day. This is crazy! Come on Apple!!

You're not the only one. A lot of people have been reporting back that 4.1 doesn't fix it which is disheartening. Apple can't get the antenna right, manufacture a white iPhone 4, and still can't fix the proximity sensor. I have to say that the proximity sensor issue is the most annoying.

I've made peace with the fact that the white iPhone is still not available, but damn that proximity sensor, truly annoying. With the 4.1 GM version, it does seem to be better, but yes I still puts calls on mute and people hang up on me because they thought I hung up on them.

My proximity sensor has been working about 98% better than in 4.0, but it's not perfect.

Works fine for me. You don't need a dev account for 4.1 GM. Make sure you didn't load a beta

What do you mean, you don't need a dev account for the GM? Where did YOU get it? I got mine from http://developer.apple.com, but only after signing in as an iPhone developer. The iOS 4.1 GM is still considered beta, but may actually have the same build number as the official iOS 4.1 release. AFAIK, however, its only legitimate source is the one I cited above.
