I just got my iPhone 5 about 2 weeks ago about a week back I noticed the red light on my proximity sensor is always glowing red in the dark what could this mean? Is this normal?

Well firstly, it means you have good eyes! Most people can't see the light emitted by the proximity sensor. Secondly, if it's on whenever the phone's on, that's normal, provided you have Siri raise-to-speak enabled. If it's on when the phone's display is not on, then it isn't normal.
