Recently turned on my PS3, first time for a good few months and found that I had to reset the time and date, does this everytime now. Searching the net I discovered that the problem is down to the PRAM battery, is this really worth replacing ? Other than the time and date being wrong on switch on everything works. Suppose I could leave it on standby but would rather turn it off.

It is really not that tough to replace, just take the front cover off and it pops right out.

Its not such a PITA like other consoles (Sega dreamcast comes to mind...way to solder the battery into the board:rolleyes:)

Well, I hate to say it but you have the hardest one to disassemble (you have to take everything practically apart to reach it.

there are many youtube videos on how to do this if you want to tackle it. (just search for PS3 YLOD disassemble)

good luck

just be happy that your PS3 has not suffered YLOD yet.

I had to do the fix to my console 4-5 times (2-4 hours of labor each time) just to bring it back to life (also to remove the disk out of the drive)

finally I gave up and bought a super slim

It all still works so think I will leave it alone, I can either set the date on start up or log into the store which sets it also and then just leave it on standby.

Thanks for your replies.
