PS4 Update - Finally External HDD support

Any difference in performance or load times when running games off an external hd?

Haven't had much opportunity to test today, but over the weekend I'll give it a good blast and let you know.

That's great to hear. I'm gonn buy a 2TB external asap to plop behind my Pro. Was toying with the idea of grabbing an external SSD and throwing whatever current game I would be playing onto it for load times, but I think I'd rather just have a lot of storage instead.

Yeah I considered doing similar, but ended up just bolstering my already upgraded internal 2TB in my pro with a 2TB seagate gaming drive (its branded for xbox but works fine on PS4).

There is a caveat to all of this folks and that is, currently there is a bug that will sometimes dismount your external HDD whilst the console is in 'rest mode' resulting in next time you turn on you have to check harddrive. Solution is to unmount the external in quick settings before putting it into rest mode, or turn off fully instead. That is until they release another firmware to fix that.
