If you've logged into the App Store this morning and have noticed that there's no update button next to apps that you want to update, you're not alone.

app-store-not-updating-4.jpg

There appears to be an App Store bug that is preventing the "Update" button that's normally displayed alongside apps from being visible, preventing apps from being updated one by one.

The update button bug seems to come and go, and not all users may be seeing it. Those that are will not see the individual update buttons when viewing app updates under their profiles in the App Store.

If you want to update your apps, the "Update All" button remains available and functional, and you can also tap over to any app's App Store description page to install an update.

Updates in Books isn't working as well. "The iTunes store is unable to process purchases at this time"

The size of the download (usually available when tapping "More") is also missing.

I hope it's a bug and not an intended change.

Folks, no need to worry, for the Apple Senior Advisor I spoke to assured me this is not an issue. The Senior Advisor officially confirmed to me that they talk to millions of customers a minute and if this was an issue, they would know about it before any customers noticed it. To troubleshoot this issue, the current instructions from Apple are to Reset All App Store settings. If you don’t see that option on your device, you’ll need to perform an AppStoreOS Restore. To do that, you’ll connect your phone to your computer and initiate the AppStoreOS recovery process that will appear in Finder. Note, this is NOT an iOS restore - this is only a restore of the AppStoreOS and no information will be removed from your phone. If the AppStoreOS recovery does not appear in Finder, Apple’s Official Position on the Matter is to keep your devices up to date with the latest version of AppStoreOS. No further troubleshooting will be provided.

My goodness it’s been ages since I even opened the App Store app. What a mess it is now. And while I’m on it, the music app is awful too. Such clutter especially if you don’t subscribe to Apple Music, which I do not.
All clutter. Awful

I don’t think I’ve ever used the individual update link anyway. I’m sure some do, and have a reason to, but I always just tap “Update All” every time.
I saw this happen yesterday. I use the individual ones at times, depending where I am

Same here. I don't see the bug on my end, but each time I'm in the App Store, I always just tap "update all."

I noticed this this morning, and thought it was peculiar. It's interesting that the update buttons and graphics are apparently server-side resources and not coming from the device, itself.

Noticed this when I woke up, restarting the app fixed it. I wouldn’t have given it a second thought if it weren’t for this article.

Still affected in Canada on my iPhone.

My iPad Mini 5 is just fine.

Yeah saw that this morning, I assume it was just a temporary glitch. I guess it is happening to more users.

Uhh, what?

Hopefully this isn't intentional, seeing as how I have to open that daily to check for app updates because the auto-update feature hasn't worked for me in years (on any iOS device, dating back to at least iPhone 5).

Glad I’m not the only one. iPhone on iOS 14.4 it isn’t working, but on iPad with iPadOS 14.5 it is.
