For those who may have missed the news, Apple has confirmed the HomePod launches in Spain and Mexico on Friday, October 26.

Apple actually made the announcement last month, but it was buried in a footnote of a press release on the day of its iPhone XS, iPhone XS Max, and Apple Watch Series 4 event, so the news did not make many headlines at the time.

HomePod will be available in Space Gray or White for EUR349 in Spain and 7,999 pesos in Mexico, according to Apple's online store.

A recent HomePod software update added support for Spanish in Spain, Mexico, and the United States, enabling Siri to communicate in that language. Siri also gained the ability to search by lyrics, set multiple timers, make phone calls, and more.

Spanish users will be able to receive the latest headlines, entertainment news, and sports updates directly on the HomePod, with Univision Noticias, ESPN Deportes, Telemundo Entretenimiento, and other sources now available.

HomePod will be available to purchase from Apple.com, Apple Stores, and select authorized resellers in Spain and Mexico.

The smart speaker first launched in the United States, Australia, and the United Kingdom in February, followed by availability in Canada, France, and Germany in June. Apple has yet to detail availability in other countries.

At this pace I will probably get the HomePod here in 10 years at best, even though Spain is just next door. Or else in case I really want it I'll have to go to the nearest Apple store which is only a "short" 600km drive from here... Apple is SLOW.

In the Netherlands we’re still waiting on:

1. Apple Watch S3 and S4 LTE
2. Apple Pay
3. HomePod

I mean, I know our country isn’t that big, but usually we’re in like the second group of countries.

Why wouldn’t they be for Apple? You know Mexico has quite a large population and while there is a lot of poverty, there are actually a good chunk of middle and upper class that can afford these devices. Since a few iPhone generations Mexico is always once the first launch wave.

And more importantly. Both countries speak the same language.....and are their two more important markets in that language, so why would one have to go first than the other.

Check, check and check. At least you've got physical Apple Stores in the Netherlands, and Siri speaks Dutch. I have to go to Madrid if I want to visit the nearest one and deal with Siri in a Brazilian accent (or just switch it to English which happens to be easier).

It seems the ability to search for songs by lyrics has stopped working for me (UK). I am surprised that the roll out takes this long for the HomePod
