Whatever happened to the photographer, capturing the picture right the first time, so they can do less post work on the computer?? The digital age, spwans (click click click click) and then (edit edit edit edit edit) later on the computer for hours.

I'm not trying to insult or imply anything to anybody, but I spend very little time in post and more time in my environment, capturing the moments and doing my best to get it right the first time (must be my days of film kicking in). We are not video editors, we're Photographic Artist (at least some of us).....

With that said, Aperture is a fine program, for the artist who it's targeted towards.
:apple:

I'm really not sure this is a film/digital thing...Even with film lots of time is spent in post processing, many of the photshop tools like unsharp masks/dodging/buring/airbrushing/contrast masking etc etc etc all started as film techniques.

To do this with film takes a large amount of skill, artistry, time and expense, Photoshop just makes these techniques quicker, easier and more accesible.

Many great film photographers spent a good deal if time manipulating images after they had taken them. To name one, Adams spent a lot of time dodging and buring and indeed his book the print devotes a good amount of time to it.

IMO the didital age has just made these processes more avaible and widespread...
