Been having these issues myself but chalked them up to an iOS bug.

But nope. Go check out r/sonos on Reddit. The most recent release of the already broken Sonos app is running continuously in the background causing rapid battery drain. It’s also somehow overriding iOS volume settings (especially muting) despite the volume buttons or other iOS volume settings not impacting a Sonos system’s volume.

Updated Sonos app>iPhone 12pro> iOS 18.0 public beta>battery drain normal, no issues. I’ve never had a problem with the Sonos app, but I’m not as elaborate on my set up, just an Arc sound bar and a sub mini. One room only. Interesting that some have problems and others do not.

Using 2 Sonos Era 100 and 2 Sonos one with the new App and haven't experienced what you do. I guess the good thing here is that its obvious that the App is most likely active and might impact battery life.
Are there any features you can turn off in the app? Thinking if there are any integrations with other apps or features you might have turned on that I haven't.
Whats your Sonos setup?

I'm on iOS 17.5.1 and the latest Sonos version, but I haven't been at home for two weeks so if this is something that has started the last few weeks my experience might not be relevant.

Yup. My iPhone 13 mini battery drained overnight. My battery usage shows 48% due to Sonos when Sonos was not active. If Sonos can't correct this really quickly I'll have to delete the Sonos App and go to SonoPhone. This manic battery behavior is not good.

Did check this morning after being on the same network as my Sonossystem.
Updated all Sonos systems and the App (new release 3 days ago) and while it doesn't drain the battery it still seems to do a bit of background work (13% /49M where 5 min was on screen).
I did use it to update the speakers but that was about it so its strange that its doing background work. Also noticed that Spotify is active when I haven't used it. I have tied my Sonosaccount to spotify so that I can use voice control.

Again, my Sonos app is not active and my battery is just fine using the latest update and the latest public beta on the iOS 18.0. I don’t know what happened to you guys, but everything is fine with me, so I believe that it must be something at your end that’s doing this, or it would be more widespread in the community. So try to tell me why is mine doing well and yours is not? it has got to be another reason.

this is the version I’m using, with iOS 18.0 beta 2. You may wish to try this to see if it works at your end.

I had exactly the same problem a few days ago, the Sonos app use a lot of my battery even though I hadn't used it in a while. I checked for updates on the app but there was none. Its working properly again now, but I don't know for how long...

Can't you just turn off background app refresh? I have this off system wide and have never noticed any differences in operation with apps that may use it.

I just read online that the problem was the Sonos app, update it and it will be fine. Mine have been working properly for a few days already, even if I updated just now.
