If your screen has a yellow hue, go to settings under Display & Brightness and turn True Tone off. This comes from factory turned on and will give screen a yellow hue. You’re welcome everyone who has a yellowish screen!! :)

True tone sucks. I tried to like it on my iPad, but just couldn't deal with it. And it's even worth on my Pro Max. The display is flawless when turned off. Not Galaxy phone quality though.

Is it really turned on by default on the new iPhones? On all of the rest, when you're setting it up, it gives you an option to turn it on and off before activating your iPhone. I don't believe they've removed it.

I used it all the time on the LCD iPhones, but since they’ve gone OLED, it skews way too yellow for me. Wish I could dial it back just a bit, because I do really miss it.

It’s there in setup with a button you can hold to see the difference when it’s off but it is on by default.

I just set up 3 new phones for my wife and kids and with all three, I was prompted during the setup process to choose whether to enable True Tone or not.

So I’m not finding it’s “turned on by default.”

Night shift has an impact if enabled as well but it’s variable. True Tone is automatic and can‘t be adjusted. If you like the effect, turn True Tone OFF but enable Night Shift “manually” and SET the color temp you prefer. If you just want a cool color temp, disable both.

I really wish there was a middle ground. True Tone on make my XS Max yellow and off makes it blue. I prefer the yellow over the blue but man in the middle would be perfect.

This is not accurate. In the setup phase, it asks, but the only option is to press a button to see it without using it, but no option to disable it. It stays on by default until you go into settings and disable it.

Oh - gotcha. Thanks for the correction. I was doing all 3 at once and moving fast. I assumed I was allowing them to be enabled. Versus just “seeing the difference.”

At any rate - I don’t mind it on. I’ve tried both and can’t really decide on a preference.
