Feel free to call me conventional, but I like my ears exactly where they are; attached to the sides of my head. I never leave the house without being hooked up to my MP3 player. I've got so much cable and a heavy (relatively speaking of course) plug dangling from my lobes I feel like a dozen Lilliputians are trying to ground me with grappling hooks.

I was wondering, does anyone know where I can buy some sort of cable clip thingy-me-bob? Something simple that will clamp the cable and attach to my collar and doesn't cost £25 for what is little more than a paper clip.

Before this heatwave hit Britain I was using one of my jeans' belt loops. Not so easy wearing shorts.

A couple random thoughts: got an old convention badge or something like that with one of those alligator clips and a vinyl loop hiding anywhere? (lose the card, use the loop for the wire)

If not, how about a little safety pin?

Why dont you make your jeans into shorts?

Because I'd look like a vagabond in winter after I'd stitched the legs back on. :D

Nope, but they shouldn't be that difficult to come by. I'll keep my eyes peeled.

Hmm, maybe if I could squeeze the circular bit at the end to clamp around the cable it could work.

Thanks for the suggestions. :)

So at the moment I don't have any better suggestions than what iMeowbot said, but I just wanted to give some respect for your Gulliver reference. You win at 'teh internets'! :D

I hadn't thought of that, thanks for the suggestion. I'll give it a go. I knew there had to be a specialised bit of kit for this purpose.

baby duck monge: why thank you ma'am.

Duct tape, hmm. I might end up looking like someone who's escaped from an improvised torture chamber. Other than that I reckon it would work.

Pst - It's sir. Actually, being a sir kinda creeps me out a bit. We'll go with [masculine pronoun]. No worries, though ;)

If you did this, I would recommend doing the taping inside your collar so no one sees it.

Ever tried wearing your head / earphones 'Japanese Style' ?

Basically with the iPod in your pocket dangle the earphone plug down the back of your t-shirt, let the plug drop down the bottom / back of the t-shirt and plug it in.

The earphones / headphones chuck in your ears, with a little slack.

The back of the collar on your shirt will keep the wire a lot more secure and stable.

When wearing a shirt for work, I place the earphones around the back of the (left) side of my neck and onto my (right) shoulder and drop the plug down teh front of my shirt and fish it our of the lowest point of my shirt above my belt, then the wire gets routed (sometimes via the belt loops) into my right/left pocket.

This might sound bizarre but it works very well and i never have my wires dangling loose down my front or my earphones being pulled out every 5 secs.

If you are actually wearing short shorts and shirtless you are a wrong-un! (unless your fit) ;)

LOL. Pure genius, Abstract! I knew there had to be a simple, painless solution. :D

Sorry baby duck. Now might be a good time to pay my optician a visit.

Thanks for the tips, Chaos Step. I'll give that a go.
