IMO, this is a good idea being able to block core location on rouge apps. The last thing I need is some app tracking my location, I guess the tin foil hat crew are just going to have to buy my 'old' iPhone as it does not have a super accurate GPS in it, it's only $600. ;)

i don't see how this changes anything.

they can still disable whatever apps they choose....

Yeah, nothing has changed and I think this is one of the few blog post / articles out there today (besides mine :) ) that is pointing that out which is good.

I don't fear apple or think there will be doom and gloom, but don't think this should be so quickly brushed under the rug as nothing to look at. Maybe it doesn't deserve the attention that it's getting, but when..er.. if your netshare app disappears in the next week or so I have a feeling that this may be a hot topic again :D

Quite easy to hit it accidentally on the iPhone touch screen, which could lead to disaster if you've got 1-Click switched on.
Actually you need to 1) tap twice to buy on the iPhone, and 2) enter your password, even on free applications. There's no "1-click" on the iPhone.

But Apple admitted that they can kill any app they want. This doesn't DISPROVE yesterday's news, it's just saying that this is a SECOND feature that's not related to killing apps.
You're right... in a roundabout way. People forget Apple is able to kill any application by killing the developer's certificate.

I love the internet. I am reminded of a saying from another forum:

"Online Fandom Rule #1: If a situation is ever unclear, assume whatever it would take to drive you into a blind rage."

I sure wouldn't want my mortal enemies to be able to track me so they could assassinate me and take my iPhone!
