My daughter needs to upgrade her mid 2013 Macbook Air i5 to a newer model.
She is a medical student so will need it for her course work, general web browsing(she prefers using Chrome to Safari), Spotify and Netflix.
I was wondering which would be the best configuration for her new M1 Macbook Air.
The base 8/256gb model or upgrading to 16/512gb?
The base model (with Apple education discount) is 899GBP.
The upgrade to 16/512gb will cost an additional £400 gbp.
She is hoping to keep the device for at least 5 years, which will cover the period of finishing her degree and starting work.
Just wondering if you guys could give me some advice?
Thanks in advance.

Since she is a medical student, she will be loading videos and programs that will need to make use of RAM, especially Anatomy programs. I would definitely go with 16 / 512GB. Ideally, I would get the 1TB drive to give her some breathing room if you can afford it. The last thing you want is to be close to filling up the 512 drive and have the Mac start slowing down.
