So when I purchased my iPhone 13 on 10/14/2021 from T-mobile I was suckered into this BS protection 360 plan whcih does cover alot. But it is so expensive and in the end, I just want Apple Care. Apparently T-mobile has stated that since I did not purcahse Apple Care at the time of getting the phone I can not even buy Apple Care.

Does anyone know fi this is true? Or can I still purchase Apple Care and drop this BS protection thingy?

You can always purchase AppleCare+ directly from Apple within 60 days of the device activation. I don't know about canceling the T-Mobile protection as I have Verizon service. They may charge you a penalty fee for removing the protection.

Yea, just go and get AppleCare+ directly from Apple. Now given you are past the 60 day mark from purchase, I believe you can still get it, you just have to bring the phone into an Apple Store and have them run some diagnostics first - you can't just auto-do it remotely.

After 60 days, the option to purchase no longer shows in settings. The OP will need to call or message Apple support to purchase AC+.
If you wait, it activates from the AC+ purchase date and not the device purchase date, right?

Yes, I believe so. It didn't used to be like that, but I think since they started offering monthly payments on AC+, it changed to that customer-friendly way. Same with their Macs (and annual payments).

Thanks! This is exactly what I was looking for as well. My apple care + option was there and I got too busy to look into it and then forgot.

They don’t charge anything for removing the service.

So I had a call with Apple today. You can’t add Apple Care + once the 60 days run out. They didn’t let me buy it for my iPhone and my 60 days ran out yesterday.

Are you outside the US? Should've clarified, I think Apple changed the policy last year only for US and Canada.

I’m in the US, and called today, past my 60 days by two weeks. I was escalated to a supervisor of some sort. He made me state for the record that the phone was not damaged and I did, they ran a diagnostics to my phone and once that cleared, they sent me an email to add AppleCare to my phone.

Luckily they made the exception, if that had failed for me I was planning to go to a near Apple store, since I heard sometimes it’s possible to add Apple care past the 60 days but they would need to inspect the phone at the store.

Totally feasible! My brother added it 11 months after he got the phone 12. As long as it’s under warranty and no damage on it they will let you get it.

Protection 360 automatically gives you Applecare+. It's included. You just can choose whether you want that service from T-Mobile or Apple.

The 360 protection just adds theft and loss.

T-Mob crammed us by adding it in February when we got the 11 Pro Max. I'm probably going to drop it after the first year.
