Carrier Purchase T-Mobile iPad Air and Swap SIM with Verizon 3rd Gen iPad - Good Idea?

That's true for their 200MB free plan (and it's quite understandable why they'd impose this restriction on that). No idea if they do the same for paid plans.

Ok so that is what it is then. You wouldn't be able to activate the 200MB free data on top of a paid plan for it to work properly. The SIM wouldn't work in the Verizon iPad until the 200 MB was used up on the TMobile iPad first.

Umm, it's kinda all or nothing. Either the SIM card is locked to the device or not. My guess, since it's a paid account, T-Mobile will probably be willing to unlock the SIM card or give you a new microSIM for the iPad 3.

What discount? I thought the LTE iPad for price of Wifi was over?

Yes - I was already to buy and noticed the sale was over.

I've decided I'm going to upgrade my iPad 3 with a Verizon flavor of iPad Air and the take the iPad 3 to T-Mobile and have them hook me up with a sim and a 1GB plan for $10/mo. This way the kids can use the old iPad and I don't have to worry about them using all my shared data or possible.data overages.

Thanks all for the help and advise in this thread.
