YES IT DID!!!! I think it was also because I use this ipod on two computers, this macbook and my PC.. the itunes library that it was registered with was the PC.. I unchecked and made sure the library was now synced with the macbook... THANK YOU!I had the same problem.
For me, the solution was to
1) make sure 1.13 was installed on the ipod.
2) uncheck "Manually manage music and videos" - apply
3) Force a sync *twice* using the button on the summary page.

I can't get it to install either but I need to find a better way. I manually manage music and don't want to change that setting.
Also, the software download lands in Library/iTunes/Mobile Applications.
I also manually manage but I uncecked it, the software update installed and then I rechecked manually manage. Works great...Cheers...c.

But if you uncheck "manage manually" and then sync, it deletes the entire music library. Right?
