Purchased TV shows and movies grayed out in iTunes 12

I've just upgraded to iTunes 12.0.1 in Yosemite and can't seem to download my purchased movies and TV shows.

They show in the iTunes window, with a cloud icon next to them, but they are grayed out. I can click on a title to highlight it, and I get a contextual menu, but there is no option to download the item. Double-clicking does nothing.

I can't find any setting that might control this.

Same here, thousands of greyed out songs in iTunes 12 that I can't get into my Mac anymore from the iCloud. Most of the threads on internet describe problems with the iPhone, but I have these greyed out songs just on my Mac.

Same is happening to me. My Windows 8.1 PC doesn't have this problem, just my MacBook Pro. Both are running iTunes 12.
