So, will the people that purchased a launch day iPhone 4 (10/7/2010) be able to purchase an iPhone 5 on launch day at the reduced price? We will still have a few weeks before our two year contract is up.

I think the 20 month window is up in October. I don't know how strict verizon is about changing it. Maybe someone who has a launch day iphone 4 on verizon can goto Apples site and tell us what the pricing apple says.

I did... it was listed at full price. The verizon site is also showing 10/7 as my upgrade date.

Verizon site has my upgrade date as 10/10 and apple store shows 10/9. Luckily I have another upgrade ready on my family plan to use.

I just called a Verizon rep who said I have to wait til 10/14 to upgrade or pay full price. He was not only unsympathetic, he blamed Apple for enforcing the subsidy rules - and proceeded to push me to buy an Android device.

I'm going to check with Best Buy to see what they can do. Shame that Verizon doesn't seem to care about helping owners willing to do a 2-year upgrade. I've had the iPhone 4 with Verizon from day one and am ready to upgrade. But if I wait til 10/14 (the earliest I'm technically allowed to upgrade online), it could be weeks before it ships - if demand is high.
