Hey, just a quick question...

When I do buy the mbp, does it matter whether I buy it from the apple store or from an online retailer? I'm curious because I want to know if I could still bring in the computer to any apple store to have it checked out, or do I have to go through the online retailer I ordered from?

Assuming you are talking about a real company, not some fly-by-night job, you will be fine. Apple warrants the machines, not the reseller.
