The only reliable way I've found to stop OS X from dumping all that junk onto a thumb drive is to do the deletion manually from Windows. 🙁 Surely there's a copy filter program of some sort (Mac App Store, perhaps?) that I can use as a pass-through to rid the thumb drive of these files, which are useless to non-Macs, and further tend to confuse Windows systems?

I use the free ThinkerTool and use that application to stop those pesky files on windows formatted network drives. Sure you can do it manually with Terminal but not everyone is a code junkie.
