Hi guys,

My 2018 Macbook pro is having a rare problem with the screen. The screen is having the purple line or bar horizontally once my cellphone close to it (especially my cellphone on LTE). I went to the apple store last week, and they replaced the screen for me, but the problem remains.

Thanks

Tao

i wager you can sell that laptop for a profit to security conscious individual, since it can act as a bug detector.

i can imagine some shady drug dealer walking around the hotel room holding the laptop up and gauge if the screen turns purple lol

Insulation on the phone. What cell is it?
Do you mean carrier? At&t.

sssshhhiiittt, surely they would have shielded the laptop :( I really don't know enough to get around it. Used to just have to move anything away from it which was causing the issue.

Maybe try another power outlet just incase
No matter whether I plug in the power or not, the purple line will appear.

i'm gonna take a wild guess and say is the thin cable between the screen and the logic board that might be causing this, i could be very wrong since i have no heard once a macbook or any other laptop have this ssue.

Never seen anything like this, either your laptop or your phone must be defective.

Thanks for your help!

What did the Apple "genius" say when you showed them that strange screen, even after the screen had been replaced?

I would take it to the Apple Store, show them that your phone still causes interference with the screen (even though it is brand new) and politely ask for a brand new one. Tell them you do not believe that the laptop was shielded correctly from the factory. Take your phone up to the MacBook Pro, and Air display units and show them that it (hopefully) does not effect any laptop screen but yours. Once they see that, they should be offering you a brand new MacBook Pro. Hope it gets worked out, keep us updated!

Good suggestions!
[doublepost=1555234208][/doublepost]Sorry for all the friends who wait for the reply. I send it to Apple repair center again last Thursday. And the status shows "your repair is in progress". I'll test it again, and I'll ask for a replacement for the whole unit if the screen still has the problem.
