totally cool
A video that purportedly shows a living, breathing space alien will be shown to the news media Friday in Denver.

Jeff Peckman, who is pushing a ballot initiative to create an Extraterrestrial Affairs Commission in Denver to prepare the city for close encounters of the alien kind, said the video is authentic and convinced him that aliens exist.

"As impressive as it is, it's still one tiny portion in the context of a vast amount of peripheral evidence," he said Wednesday. "It's really the final visual confirmation of what you already know to be true having seen all the other evidence."

When Peckman went before city officials this month to discuss his proposed ET initiative, he promised to show the video.

Peckman said the general public will have to wait to see it because it's being included in a documentary by Stan Romanek.

"No one will be allowed to film the segment with the extraterrestrial because there is an agreement in place limiting that kind of exposure during negotiations for the documentary," he said.

But people won't have to wait too long to see it for themselves.

"There is an open, public meeting in about a month in Colorado Springs," Peckman said. "We'll hope to do one in Denver at some point, and then in a few months, there will be the documentary that anybody can have, and it'll have the footage."

An instructor at the Colorado Film School in Denver scrutinized the video "very carefully" and determined it was authentic, Peckman said.

Peckman, 54, said the video was among the reasons he was "compelled" to launch the proposed ballot initiative, which has generated news as far as South Africa.

"It shows an extraterrestrial's head popping up outside of a window at night, looking in the window, that's visible through an infrared camera," he said. The alien is about 4 feet tall and can be seen blinking, Peckman said earlier this month.

In a statement, Peckman said "other related credible evidence" proving aliens exist will be shown at Friday's news conference, too.

In 2003, Peckman authored an off-beat ballot initiative that would have required the city to implement stress-reduction techniques. The "Safety Through Peace" initiative failed, but garnered 32 percent of the vote.

I find myself wishing this is real, is that weird?

itd be awesome if it were real... however i have my doubts

"experts" seem to see it as real....

"There is no doubt in my mind that (Stan Romanek, a Colorado native who has reported UFO sightings) did not post-produce this material. In other words, it's not a trick done in special effects," Jerry Hofmann, a professional film editor with more than 30 years of experience, said in a telephone interview this morning.

"I have equipment that will test to see if that shot was recorded originally on that tape, which it was," he said.

Hofmann said people who work in Hollywood animatronics also have seen the video and said that such an elaborate puppet would cost around $50,000.

"The guy lives on a freaking government pension," Hofmann said, referring to Romanek. "He's got a wife and three kids. He doesn't have money. I just don't think he faked this. I think what we got here is the real thing."

"I have equipment that will test to see if that shot was recorded originally on that tape, which it was," he said.

Slightly off-topic, but how?

And it may have cost 50k to produce a puppet that advanced, but surely they could have just stuck a guy in a suit for very little money?

I guess I'm just a cynical old git

If it's anything like the scene in Signs when the alien steps out of the bushes I don't want to see it. That bit chilled me!

I don't believe it. I do believe there is intelligent life in the universe, but I find it hard to believe they have humanoid features, such as a distinguishable head and eyelids to blink with.

I reckon when we find extraterrestrial life, it'll look nothing like we could have imagined.

don't buy it.

I really think that if someone had a video of an alien, there would be no waiting... there would also be no documentary... This would be the biggest thing to happen, or almost biggest thing to happen, ever.. EVER! It would already be cast all over the world etc etc. and news people all over the planet would be going apesh*t over this discovery and it would be the only thing on TV.... Or this perosn would have already been snuffed out by the feds and the video destroyed.

I think it would be really awesome if this were real, but this just seems to be some political-hype-attention-getting-scheme-a-ma-thing.

..wait til friday and I'll show you my alien... to borrow a line from South Park: "Come On. I mean, Come On." - jimmy, trying to get the bloods and crips to get along.

So I don't buy it anymore. I thought they were going to air it on the news today, not just announce that its going to be on TV. What a rip - just used for publicising a TV show.

Unless they are going to air it on the news and my wires are just incredibly crossed.

If there are aliens ...

"This would be the biggest thing to happen, or almost biggest thing to happen, ever.. EVER!" jam
Even if the aliens recorded it in their Betamax format?
"I do believe there is intelligent life in the universe" SF
Too bad there's no sign of it on Earth.

Those interested can Google The Drake Equation.
It's hardly scientific. But it may help us understand the factors involved.

What would be great is if someone like Steven Spielberg secretly got together with some of Hollywood's best computer animators and special effects artists. To create an "authentic" alien autopsy or visual of space craft. Then release to the public anonymously through some everyday guy whom could not be seen as having the resources to make a fake video:D.

Found this after googling his name... a bit of a shame I must say.

It turns out, preparing for the imminent alien invasion is only part of Jeff Peckman's craziness. He also creates and peddles "Metatron Harmonizers," little snakeoil gadgets designed to "transform the chaotic electromagnetic fields into life-supporting fields that are in harmony with the natural fields created by the human physiology." Hoo boy.

Essentially, he's another quack who thinks electromagnetic fields put out by cellphones and WiFi cause medical problems despite all evidence to the contrary. Rather than petitioning to get rid of the fields like some, he's profiting off the stupidity of others instead.

You can either get a Metatron Personal Harmonizer, which is basically a credit card, or a Metatron Auto Harmonizer which plugs into your cigarette lighter in your car. Both items will do nothing, but I love the claims on the website as to their benefits.

-Allow you to be more comfortable in your daily life
-Allow you to be more comfortable in challenging situations
-Assist you in being on the cutting edge of bringing Global Peace
-Foster joy, lightness of being, creativity and abundance
-Promote the unfolding of your Divine Purpose
-Assist you in manifesting your heart's desires
-Help you to have deeper, more restful sleep

Boy howdy, I can promote the unfolding of my Divine Purpose by simply buying a $150 credit card? Where do I sign?!
So yeah, if you had hopes that this nutjob's alien video is legit, this might lower those odds a bit further.

If it's anything like the scene in Signs when the alien steps out of the bushes I don't want to see it. That bit chilled me!

Seriously... don't want to hijack the thread... but Signs actually was the scariest film I have ever ever seen. Bar none. Usually I laugh at the likes of Scream, Exorcist, etc... but Signs. Argh!

All hype...

The fact that there would be evidence to prove what people want to see and is not being let out based upon it being included in some guy's documentary is basically free advertising for said documentary...I for one and calling B.S.!:D

I wouldn't mind it being authentic but something inside me says if the video has any audio we'll no doubt hear...

"Hi Ho, Kermit the Frog here!"

I mean a head popping up looking in a window? Quick flashback, SESAME STREET! All those damn chars were nothing but torso puppets.

Still, a big part of me believes in ET's but it seems like they visit this planet and pick the dirtiest trailer park, or BFE farm in Iowa just to report back to their homeworld and say "No intelligent life here boss!"

Smegging yeah, it's real. I've seen the video.:p Here's an excerpt:

RIMMER: Incredible! A stupendous moment in my own personal history! The perfectly preserved remains of a Quagaar warrior!
LISTER: Yeah, right, Rimmer. Absolutely.
RIMMER: They must have looked something like ... a roast chicken.
