I don't plan on putting many songs on, just a few for ringtones, so I didnt need the extra space. The guy told me I could use them as ringtones, no problem. (he also told me AAC music was no problem)
Anyways, wasn't about to give up. I looked on Google, found a forum asking the same thing. I found this.
You need windows for the software, at least he BitPim part, not so sure about Audacity on the Mac, never used it but I think it's available.
Anyways, I got two songs I like converted into mp3 clips and onto my phone, no problem. Whether you want to use them for ringtones, or just music, I'd say go get the cable, you're going to need it IMO. And if you're just transferring music, then just use the software they give you. I had to download wma's cause the idiots lied and said any music would work. Verizon is forcing me to illegally download music since I can't use my purchased music.![]()
Anyways, I've been through this, so any questions just PM me.![]()
Audacity is a free Windows-only program for manipulating audio files, you can easily use a Mac's included software to do it.You need windows for the software, at least he BitPim part, not so sure about Audacity on the Mac, never used it but I think it's available.
It is?wbread5 said:Audacity is a free Windows-only program for manipulating audio files..
From Link said:Audacity is free, open source software for recording and editing sounds. It is available for Mac OS X, Microsoft Windows, GNU/Linux, and other operating systems.

Vicious.
Well, I have an interesting update for ya.haleyvan said:man that totally sucks. i was going to ask for the chocolate phone for christmas thinking i could "plug and play" i am not going to make my parents buy the "software kit". stupid verizon

Not only was transferring the files to the phone a piece of cake (just used a card reader), but it turns out, it plays MP3 files just fine. We've got tons of WMA and MP3 files on our phone now, all working perfectly.
They told us at the Verizon store that, not only could you NOT just transfer files over without the software, but that the phone would NOT play MP3's.
Lies.
Nothing was involved. I put the MP3's on the MicroSD card just like I did the WMA's. Both played excellently.haleyvan said:wow - i can't believe them! so no complicated hacking was involved??
The std unlock code for verizon is 000000.
You do not get charged for ANY of your own songs you put on the phone, whether you put them on yourself or sync them through Windows Media Player. You will not get charged anything for putting your own songs on there. If Verizon did such a thing, they'd be dead about now.i read in another forum that you can use a card reader to put music files on the micro sd card and then put the card into the chocolate and access the music. supposedly since you don't sync the music with windows media player or download w/ vcast verizon doesn't detect them so you don't get charged for the songs. Has anyone else done this or heard of it? i have a micro sd card and a card reader but don't want to load it up with songs and put it in my chocolate if i'm going to get charged for them later. not to sound scandalous but i don't exactly want to pay hundreds of dollars to fill my phone with songs.
I'm sorry if I'm bring about a "dead thread", but I too bought a Chocolate about Christmas. I use my printer as a card reader, but my printer doesn't have a slot for Micro SD, just for SD. Any way I can still get songs onto my phone?
Thanks for the tips you guys. I'm really hoping I can just drag-drop music without having to buy the kit.
Can anyone tell me if the software that comes with the kit is Mac-compatible?
Holy crap! I am super excited nowWell, I have an interesting update for ya.

Yeah I realized this yesterday. They are really expensive from Verizon!!DO NOT BUY MEMORY CARDS FROM VERIZON.
Or any mobile carrier, for that matter.
Go to an electronics retailer like Newegg.com and buy a micro SD card from them. Very cheap, and comes with an adapter.
Also the included software is useless even on Windows. It doesn't work and you don't need it.
