just upgraded my 1st gen iPhone to 2.1 with QuickPwn, and I must say, it's great! It's almost like being back on 1.1.4, nice and stable. 😀

Has there been any unlocking tool (for 2.1) developed yet for Windows (quickpwn or pwnage) - or is it just Mac at the moment?

For all those with this issue, delete it from cydia and then install it from installer.app.
I originally had installed it via cydia and it was crashing app store apps but all is working fine after I ran it from installer.

Troubles Updating to 2.1?
Bigboss has a few helpful articles on his blog about upgrading to 2.1 and fixing some of the issues in this thread. If you're still having troubles, I encourage you to read through this site:

This update went smoother than any other firmware update yet. I removed all my apps from Categories, backed up, pwnage tool (answered NO and let it walk me through the process). Got one error from iTunes 8, but just restarted my phone, option-clicked on restore and selected my custom FW, restored from backup, and re-installed my Cydia apps and set my theme back up. Also upgraded to the new Mobileinstallation file, deleted the mobileinstallation cache file (see directions on the site link above). If you have issues where your old apps are not showing up in Springboard, deleting this cache file and restarting will fix it. I've had to do that a few times along the way.

I keep getting this error in iTunes when I option + restore & select my custom ipsw---

There needs to be a way to copy your apps off a pwned phone, then update. It is ridiculous to download all these sweet apps, get your phone set up nice then lose everything when a new firmware is released. Every little while, an upgrade means we lose all our stuff. is this what to expect?
Has anyone heard anything on jailbreaking your phone and having a way to stay up to date without re-jailbreaking every month or so?? It's a pain.

You can. Just need to copy the apps back to a folder then when copying them back to the phone chmod the permissions for each app and they are back.
cd /Applications/AppName.app
chmod 755 AppName

I just updated my 1st gen iPhone to 2.0.1 a couple of weeks ago, and it is very unstable, so I would like to update it.
I am on a Windows Vista machine, I need the phone unlocked for T-mobile, and I need T-zones.
Are all the Apps working? (I use Winterboard, Mxtube, cycorder, Poof, MIM, etc)
Can this all work for my phone, or would I be better off waiting for a couple of weeks until things are working correctly.
Also if the windows versions were available, which one should I use, Winpwn or Quickpwn?
