Hi,

so, when I search Amazon for Qi charging pads (for an iPhone 8), I'm overwhelmed with the plethora of available items - many of which have brand names I've never heard of (China, I guess). Apple.com offers two, but they do seem pricey. With reviews on Amazon it's always somehow a hit or miss and I often have a hard time trusting those.

We don't necessarily need fast charging.

What are your recommendations?

Only the Morphie and the Belkin recommended by Apple do 7.5w fast charging with iPhone 8, 8 plus, and X. The all others will charge at standard rate.

Yes, but it's for a bed-side table. So as long as the iPhone is fully charged over night, we really don't need fast charging.

Besides, I have to admit, they are somewhat pricey (but that's what's throwing me off a little about all those cheaper models - I'm mostly concerned about saftey)

I just picked up the basic Samsung Qi charger when it was $15 on Amazon. It will only ever support standard 5W wireless charging, but that’s fine for me. It’s also WPC Qi certified, along with every other Samsung wireless charger; which is a plus in my book. Even comes with the power adapter in box, which some do not. I would honestly tell you to pick up any Samsung Qi charger if you can find it for around $20.
