What 3rd party wireless charger will you get? [MERGED]

besides speed, how do you find the charger? Is the LED annoying

Looks like Anker 10W with Samsung adaptive charger. Is still pulling at 5W.

*I'll run the battery down under 50% and test again. This is at about 80% charged.

RAVPower after ten minutes got me from 56% to 67%. Screen was off, checked time via a sepratae timer.

Mophie after ten minutes from a different outlet got me from 43% to 59%.

I'm not sure what may be wrong with your charger(s) or outlets or whatever it may be, but I do know that Mophie supports fast charging.

Which RavPower’s product was it?
 
For what it’s worth, here is what RAVPower customer service told me regarding support for 7.5 Watt support and clarification on the LED light colors on its RAVPower Fast Wireless Charger

The item can support 7.5W charging.

The current setting in iPhone is different with other phones.It does not send signal to our wireless charger so it will not turn to green. The indicator stays orange when charging iPhones, whether it is fast or standard charge as iPhone do not send the signal to the wireless charger as other Qi-Enabled Phones do. But do not need to worry about it.Our wireless charger can detect the current need of the phone and charge your phone well.

Yeah, they told me that it was coming out in 11.3. Kind of a bunch of BS if you ask me. I may return mine since it clearly isn't supporting 7.5w.
 
So I guess its starting to look like the general consensus is, that only Belkin and Mophie sold by apple are charging at 7.5w? I have the mophie and the anker 10W, it doesn't really make a difference to me since I charge overnight and haven't had the need to top off during the day yet... but I just find it interesting.

Isn’t it the phone which draws only as much power as it needs from the available power?

There’s a 15W Belkin wireless charger (also named “Boost Up”) not sold on Apple site. However, according to Belkin support, this one also supports 7.5W output for the new iPhones.

Take a look at the questions from customers and the answers from Belkin support. According to Belkin, the white model (which outputs a maximum of 7.5W) has been made specifically for iPhones, hence its 7.5W output.

The other “Boost Up” model is titled as “for Samsung” and outputs 15W max. Belkin support answers expressly state that it supports 7.5W output for new iPhones. In other words, the black model, with 15W max output, is future proof.

Both the models are compatible with Iphone 8. Model F7U014 supports upto 15W so it is capable of supplying 7.5W to your phone.

iPhone 8 Plus , iPhone 8. Model F7U014 is also compatible with samsung.

I see. I just don't get why Belkin made a model specific for iPhones with smaller wattage output, when there's already one compatible with every Qi phone and higher wattage output, that's also compatible with iPhones.

I've just read an article at ZDNet (http://www.zdnet.com/article/iphone-and-android-wireless-charger-pads-which-one-is-the-best/) saying that the Samsung version of the Belkin Boost Up Wireless Charger WILL NOT charge the iPhone at 7.5W, despite supporting 15W of max output.

According to the article, Apple has created a new standard in the Wireless Power Consortium. The current WPC standard is the Qi 1.2.X, which supports 3 "profiles" of wireless charging: 5W, 9W and 15W. It looks like that just because the charger supports 9W or 15W, doesn't mean it'll support 7.5W.

It really seems that Apple has created the new 7.5W profile in the WPC standards and this maybe the reason why Belkin has 2 Boost Up wireless chargers: one for Samsung Galaxy S8 (5W, 9W and 15W output) and one for iPhones (5W and 7.5W).

That makes sense and is a plausible explanation for Belkin to create two different charges, one with 15W and another one with 7.5W.

so apple made QI chargers specific to fast charging. thats stupid.. how are you going to open qi to everyone, but only the faster charging of it to some.

According to Belkin support, the Boost Up 15W (black color) model also supports 7.5W with the new iPhones.

This concludes my testing.

Anker 10W charger will charge iPhone X at 5W, never 7.5W.

11.2 final. Under 50% charge. Both 5V and 9V chargers.
 
Ugh. Really like the feel and weight of the RavPower charging pad, but now thinking about returning it to Amazon and getting a Morphie instead which also has a solid feel.
 
I got this one from Amazon. It was like $15 with a lightning deal at the time.

I got silver because in my opinion it looks nicer then black and matches my phone. Came with only the charger and micro USB cable. I paired it with a 12W iPad charger I had lying around. Works great. It is as wide as the X but like 1 1/2 inches shorter. It charger both vertical an horizontal for both the X and 8+

On a side not. I'm taking the X back as it developed a spot on the camera? No scratches, water stains, lint, or dust under the lens?

I have the Samsung Wireless Charging Stand (Fast Charge) and the Mophie Wireless Charging Base. Here are the results of a 10-minute test with my iPhone X.

Samsung: 34% to 39% in 10 minutes.
Mophie: 37% to 44% in 10 minutes.

One other thing is that I like to use wireless charging stands, where I can better see what happens on the screen on my phone... There are no offers for such products with Apple ‘7.5W’ support....
