While reading some of the iPhone X case reviews, I've seen admonishments that if one uses a folio case, one should take any cards that have a magstripe or an RF chip out of the folio case before setting the phone onto a Qi pad, to avoid any excessive heat buildup. That makes reasonable sense.

What about using wired earbuds (e.g., the EarPods that come with the phone) while it is lying on a charging mat? All of the charging mats that I have are smaller in diameter than the phone is tall, so I don't think it would be a problem; however, if someone has had a problem, I'd like to hear about it.
