QMaster Bandwidth

Hello,
I'm trying to do some research on QMaster and Compressor with clustering. That lab I work in is working on upgrading and possibly going to gigabit ethernet (or fiber, budget-permitting). What I would like to know is how exactly QMaster handles the bandwidth on the network. We will have a central NAS for the files, so is gigabit really an advantage and why? Details would be great, or pointers to where I can read up on this.
