When I click on a WMV now I get a message saying "This application needs Quicktime player to be installed" or something. I'm assuming the latest stable build doesn't see X as the player or something. Anyway, when I just right click and open it in QTX it plays fine.

This has me wondering.....Do I need Flip4Mac at all to playback WMVs now since QTX does it, or is it still actually using Flip4Mac to play?

Did you do an upgrade install or a clean install? If you upgraded the codecs from flip4mac are probably still there.

Clean install but I do actually have Flip4Mac installed. I'm just wondering if QTX is actually using it to play the videos since I don't see the usual "Importing" progress bar.

I had this same issue. To correct it right click on the file you are attempting to play click get info and under Open with: select QuickTime Player the click change all.
