Quad Core or Octo Core?

For the original poster, it sounds like even the quad may be overkill and not fully utilized by your apps.

I'd take a serious look at the iMac. Just hook up the monitor you already have to run two, it's nice to have the extra screen real estate.

And definitely wait until after the announcements next week before buying. If they upgrade the mini a bit, there's a good chance it would be plenty good enough for what you want to do.

And who knows if they might finally add a midtower?
