I have same 2006 17" Imac...mine has 2 gig and em running lion...I'm running lion off a external drive (usb) with a ssd...it's make a Massive difference!

I've still got the G5 on the way, it'll just be put back on eBay straight away as I wasn't really planning on getting the iMac in my sig. until I found it last night. And of course there'll be loads of video on him :)
